342,373 Rainbow Trout Stocked Across Texas Starting This Week (Top 10 Spots Revealed)

Sharing is caring!

Texas Parks and Wildlife will start stocking rainbow trout into lakes, ponds, and rivers across the Lone Star State this week.

The fishing seasonal tradition kicks off Wednesday (November 28) and will continue into early March, while your local fishing hole remains suited for this cold-loving game fish.

There are over 200 waters stocked with trout, scattered from El Paso to Beaumont, and including spots close to major cities. We’ve scoured the schedule to show you the 10 streams and lakes stocked with the most trout during this late fall and winter season.

Note that the best trout-fishing spot is often the one that’s closest to home and has recently been planted with feisty trout. So use the source link below the table to see all of TPWD’s stocked locations. Use their filter system to pick spots by city or county.

You’ll also want to use that link to learn when your chosen fishing spot will be stocked. Trout fishing is best in the days or at least weeks after planting, but it can fade quickly.
