4 Orange County Lakes Being Stocked With Trout This Week

Sharing is caring!

Four Orange County park lakes are being stocked with rainbow trout for this last week of March.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recently added the four locations to its Fish Planting Schedule for Orange County from March 24 to 30.

Here are the locations where CDFW plans to stock hatchery-raised trout:

  • Huntington Park Lake (Huntington Beach)
  • Mile Square Regional Park Lake (Fountain Valley)
  • Tri-City Regional Park Lake (Placentia)
  • Yorba Linda Regional Park Lake (Anaheim)

Stocked trout aren’t hard to catch. Fishing with bait such as a piece of a nightcrawler or a small ball of PowerBait is often the easiest way to get the job done.

More active anglers can try lures, including spinners, spoons, and artificial flies, as long as there’s room to cast safely.

Several local lakes also were scheduled to be stocked with catfish last week. They are Irvine Lake, Mile Square, Clark Regional and Yorba Regional parks.

Most anglers catch catfish by still-fishing with bait such as nightcrawlers or pieces of raw fish or shrimp. For more details, see our catfishing how-to article.
