10 Orange County Fishing Lakes Stocked with Trout this Week

Sharing is caring!

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to stock catchable trout into 10 lakes across Orange County this coming week.

These trout plantings are the first since last spring, as summertime water conditions in Southern California’s low-elevation parks and lakes tend to be too warm for cold-loving rainbows or other types of trout.

Here is a list of lakes state officials have scheduled for stocking sometime during the week ahead:

  • Carbon Canyon Reservoir (Yorba Linda)
  • Carr Park Lake (Huntington Beach)
  • Eisenhower Park Lake (Orange)
  • Greer Park Lake (Huntington Beach)
  • Huntington Park Lake (Huntington Beach)
  • Laguna Lake (Fullerton)
  • Mile Square Park Lake (Fountain Valley)
  • Ralph Clark Regional Park Lake (Buena Park)
  • Tri-City Lake (Placentia)
  • Yorba Regional Park Lake (Anaheim)

Other popular fishing spots in Orange County, including Irvine Lake and Laguna Niguel Regional Park Lake, will get their first trout plantings later in November, according to OC Parks.

Fishing with bait is usually the most reliable way to catch freshly stocked trout. PowerBait is popular choice, with salmon eggs, scented marshmallows, and good old nightcrawlers or earthworms all excellent options.

Some anglers also like to cast artificial lures and flies to these aggressive fish.
