Anglers have landed 19 huge bass weighing over 13 pounds apiece in Texas during the first three months of this year.
Those fish were the Legacy Class bass donated during spawning season to the 2024 Toyota ShareLunker. See all 19 in the table below, ranked by size with the location and date they were caught.
The annual program’s Legacy project collects donated bass to help produce future generations of trophy-sized bass, helping Texas maintain its stature as one of the best places on the planet to catch double-digit bucketmouths.
While it’s certainly possible that other bass in that class were caught during the first three months of the year, these are the largest ones that have been carefully weighed and certified through the ShareLunker program. Pre-spawn female bass are also typically the heaviest of the season.
The biggest of those big bass was the 15.82-pound behemoth that Kyle Hall landed on March 18 at O.H. Ivie Lake.
Hall, who lives in Granbury, also became the first angler in ShareLunker history to catch Legacy class bass three years in a row.
O.H. Ivie Lake also continued its amazing 4-year hot streak, producing most of the state’s Legacy bass over that span. The reservoir, located east of San Angelo, gave up 12 of the top 19 ShareLunker bass this season, including the six largest.
J.B. Thomas Lake, a couple of hours northwest of O.H. Ivie, produced two Legacy bass in early 2024. Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Inks, Fort Phantom Hill, and Naconiche lakes also accounted for 13-plus-pound bass this year.
While many of the anglers landing these bass of a lifetime are from Texas, anglers coming from states stretching from New York to Washington State also got in on the act.
